Our worship celebrates God’s presence, aiming to inspire, nurture and encourage all to grow in faith.

Worship Services

Worship services are led by lay persons or visiting preachers. Visiting preachers both lay and ordained add new dimensions to our understanding and it is good to have people who are prepared to come and support us in our ministry. Children are provided with teaching material that follows the service and have an area within the church suitable for them to work in.

Worship 10.00am every Sunday in a welcoming environment.
Special Services over Easter period.

Shared morning tea follows service once a month, all welcome, there is always food to share.

In months where there are five Sundays the Uniting Church congregation shares a gathering with the Anglican, Catholic and Lutheran congregations in the town. Those who attend are there because they not only enjoy worshiping together, but they also see the value of the Christians in Meningie presenting a united front.

The Uniting Church SA seeks to be an innovative, growing church proclaiming Jesus Christ, empowered by the Spirit to transform God’s world. Read More.

The Uniting Church is a young church – formed on 22 June 1977, when the Congregational, Methodist, and Presbyterian Churches united to become one. The Basis of Union is the document which affirms our Christian faith and is the guide to what is central to the life of the Uniting Church in Australia. Read the Basis of Union here.

VISION & HISTORY

The Meningie Uniting Church is a member of the Presbytery of Southern SA and is led through the Leadership Team because we do not have a minister in settlement.

With an all member ministry we encourage each person to contribute their gifts, time and energy to reach out in God’s love.

The Church involved a wide cross-section of community in a Planning Day in February 2014. The major impetus from that day was to seek greater cooperation with the Ngarrindjeri members of our community. Services and other events are being planned accordingly.

Our Vision

We are a Christ-centred people reaching out into the community sharing
God’s love.

Our worship celebrates God’s presence, aiming to inspire, nurture and
encourage all to grow in faith. In valuing our local and Church communities
we seek meaningful and practical ways to share our resources. We encourage
each person to contribute their gifts, time and energy to reach out in God’s
love.

We seek to provide a hospitable and respectful environment for the Meningie
and Districts people to worship, celebrate and have fellowship with each
other and God: in partnership with the United Aboriginal and Islander
Christian Congress and Ngarrindjeri people.

Our History

We celebrated 50 years of the laying of the foundation stone of the present church building on 30 March 2008. A King James Version of the bible located in the church was donated to the ‘Meningie Chapel’ on 26 January 1879.

The church surrounds feature a publicly available meditation garden with paved areas and attractive, low-water use, native garden.

A recent upgrade of the building included complete new toilets and a modern kitchen, while within the church itself pews have been replaced with modern welcoming seating, the carpet has been replaced and the church and hall have been air-conditioned. A continuing program aims to maintain the premises as a suitable venue for worship.
